Apple Laserwriter 12/640 light print

I have seen several Apple Laserwriter 12/640 that work perfect but the print is too light.
Is there a way to correct this?

This could be a hardware defect, although I'm not saying that it is.  Low laser output could cause this; so could low high-voltage from the power supply.

The printer should have a "density" (darkness) control either in the driver and/or from a front control panel if this model has one.

Also, sometimes, apparently light output can be cause by "light" fonts .... fonts that are just "thin"
