Dell Inspiron 6000 Driver Problem

Hi guys,

I have Dell laptop Inspiron 6000 with the ATI Mobility Radeon X300 Display card. It works fine in Windows XP but when I have dual boot and have another OS of Windows 2000, the driver can't be installed in Windows 2000. I have searched Internet and download the necessary drivers but it still cannot install. It said that it is missing the video driver file. Some of the PCI drivers are also missing that caused me unable to connect Internet (wireless receiver failed).

Anyone knows what the problem is?

Thanks
David

Did you check the dell site and download all the win2k specific drivers and utilities for that laptop? The ones for the chipset are probably the most important.

Yep Rindi,

I have downloaded from Dell and it does not work for me.

Any other suggestions?

Try to dowload the Intel Inf Update from the Intel Website, and Install !

then try to download the latest drivers for the ATi X300, I think it's called Catalyst, and have it a go 1

Hi mcp_jon,

Perfect....it works perfectly.....anyone knows why do we need to install from the Intel directly and I can't use the Dell driver?

Thanks

Why, I surely don't kn ow, but . . . as Intel is the Manufacturer of the Chipsets on the mainboard, and if these are kept actualised, cool. Then the only thing left is the Catalyst for ATi, which Dell only uses the Dell Certified Drivers, where, ATi drivers are always some steps ahead !
