Hi Network Experts,

I got Wireless network between my two computers(labtop and the PC). I've established a connection between them. I want to access the PC from my Laptop. In fact I want to play some Music files from that PC. How to do that?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try enable remote desktop connection on the computer which you want to remote control.
To enable remote destop connection, right click "My Computer" and on the remote tab, check the "allow users to remotely connect to this computer".

On the controller, go to run and hit 'mstsc /console' (microsoft terminal services console)
Enter the machine that is to be controlled (IP or NETBIOS name).
Enter the username and password that exist on the computer and viola.

You can also use a freeware call ultravnc.

Good luck

oops... sorry..
its mstsc on the run command
and when the terminal box pops up, type the IP followed by /console.
Example. /console
or -console

forgotten if its / (forward slash) or - (dash)

If you don't want to use a remote desktop function, you could just create "shares" on the PC for the directories that you have the files in then map the drives to the laptop for easy access.
Just right click on the directory you would like to share, click on properties, click on the sharing tab, check off the "Share this folder" option give the share a easy name to remember and make sure the allow other users to change files is checked if present.

Then go to the laptop, right click on My Computer and click on "map network drive" select a drive letter and for "folder" type \\Server Name\Share Name (or browse to the shared folder) and then you will be able to access all files from those folders and share files back and forth.
