Its probably a transient issue as I can ping it. If you were experiencing for long then there is a problem in 80.191.197.6, what is it ? Your router ? ISP Router ?

What kind of connection do you have?

Did you try pinging the IP ADDRESS of Google from this router ?

Also try a trace route and post the results.

Check that.

No,I told them, they told me "we can connect to google site".

I dont know how to trace route on win2k.

Who ? I thought it is your router ? If it is IT department you are talking about then proceed with a helpdesk request or if it is ISP then tell them that ISP router is giving the unreachable message to you so it is on their part to take care of it.

Trace route is easy;

Open Command Prompt->tracert www.google.com

It will produce output, most probably it is going to stop at the same router. I'm just checking it to confirm it.

Rajesh

Dial-Up Connection ? Ok, Nothing much to do, open up a case with them and tell them that you are not able to reach these addresses (Include Yahoo also)

You seem to be runing a VMware machine?
Dmitri FarafontovLinux Systems AdminCommented:
Also if you can ping by an IP address it means you have a hostname resolution problem. DNS on your router is not setup correctly, or denied by a proxy firewall.

Have a look at
C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open the above file in notepad,
you should only have lines that begin with
#
and you should have the following line
127.0.0.1       localhost

Could you confrim this?
shirinAuthor Commented:
in this location
C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\

I have these files:
Imhosts,network,protocol,services, services.isc

I don’t have "hosts" on that location

Dmitri FarafontovLinux Systems AdminCommented:
Your gateway has a problem in a routing table. Not much you can do but ask your ISP to look into it.
