Out of Office not working for those set prior to upgrading to Exchange Server2003

Hi all,

Have just upgraded from Exchange2K to 2003. For those that set their out of office reply prior to upgrading , it doesn't work and the sende recieves no email back.

It seems to work ok if I set it up again.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this and if there's a fix for it ?

We have many people away on holidays at the moment.

regards,

Adam

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Exchange 2003 adds improvements to the out of office assistant.  It more than likely reset them all during the upgrade.
Did you upgrade your outlook clients also?

First, make sure there is a problem. If someone had OOO turned on and a sender already received an OOO message, the sender won't receive another OOO message until  the person turns OOO off and back on.

If you have a case where someone has turned it off and back on, and a sender still doesn't receive an OOO message, you can try some of the Outlook command line parameters to try to resolve the problem. This is a site with the parameters, try /cleanserverrules (be aware it will remove any non-OOO rules as well):
