Greetings,
one of my users thought they had a linksys router. Upon investigating, they have a 2 wire router.
What is the default Network information for the 2 wire router UI
default username
default password
I know linksys is 192.168.1.1
User: admin
pw: admin
Thanks

please provide the router model number to help you further
When you connect the a computer to the router, it will provide the ip address to your system and also you will get the gateway adress
the gateway address is the ip address of the router
try this
Default username = admin. Default password = password or 1234
or the best is to give a call to the manufacturer

I believe with 2-wire the password is based on the serial number initially.

Thanks,
I wasn't looking for any guesses or "suggestions to contact tech support".
that's the same as saying "I don't know the answer, but I hope to get points for telling you to call somebody else."
very specific question looking for very specific answer.
It's not a matter of installing the router.
The user has a WEP on the router and doesn't know what the password is. By logging into the router locally (it will be a different password), the WEP can be changed to something that user can actually remember.
I'll just tell my user to go by a linksys product, since that is the standard for home offices.

the WEP password by default is located underneath the serial number
the 2 IP's that 2wire uses for their routers are
172.16.0.1
192.168.1.254
there is no username and logon. however the wep is needed to access the wireless settings page.
Thanks for almost providing the information.
