OWA - Cannot find server or DNS Error
Setup :
1 FE 2K3 Server with Exchange 2K3 installed called SVOWA01
3 BE 2K3 Servers with Exchange 2K3 installed holding all mailboxes called SV01, SV02, SV03
All ports 80 & 443 are open between FE and BE servers
RPC-HTTP is not enabled on any of the servers
Issue : (This is a new setup - OWA FE was added after migrating to Exchange 2003, BE are not clustered)
Users with mailboxes on SV01 have no difficulty accessing OWA implicity https://SVOWA01/exchange
Users with mailboxes on SV02 or SV03 receive the Page Cannot Be Displayed page with Cannot find server or DNS Error at the bottom using https://SVOWA01/exchange
Users with mailboxes on SV02 or SV03 receive the Page Cannot Be Found page with HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found at the bottom using https://SVOWA01/exchange/username
Users on any server can reach the logon page without issue
If I move a mailbox from SV02 to SV01, then the user can access their OWA no problem
Steps taken so far :
Double checked all settings against the functioning server SV01 against SV02 and SV03. Double checked NTFS permissions on the Exchange folders for Authenticated Users
IIS Logs on SV02 show GET verbs, but no other entries such as POST or SEARCH
I have no idea where to try next ! Thanks for any help - I've trawled the forums for help but nothing seems to work...

Not by the look of it....If I type http://SV02/exchange, I get a 'Access Denied' web page....
hmmm, need to resolve that first.
Check HTTPS on the BE's also.
Check the Auth settings in IIS and make sure forms based auth is off on the BE's.

If I use https://SV02/exchange, I get a Page Cannot Be Displayed - but I can see the page is trying to reach the ip address of this server in the bottom left hand corner before the error page....
Confirmed that forms based auth is off on the BE servers.......

what about if you try and access the OWA logon from the IE on the BE server directly?
http://localhost/exchange
or
http://sv02/exchange
Defo sounds like auth settings though, but I'm just making sure.
Have you also checked the IP address is right in IIS that is attached to the default website?

and this (http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Demystifying-OWA-2003-FEBE-Logon-Process.html) may also shed some light...
Check it through and let me know.

If I try the logon on the BE directly, either by servername or localhost, I get a popup box asking for username and password. It asks for it a couple of times before I get the Access Denied page.

Thanks for all the help !!
After some deliberation, we decided to get a Microsoft engineer onsite. It seems that we needed to reapply Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 and reboot the BE servers.....It can occur that not all parts (DLLs etc) are applied correctly.
