Get getdataback and use it to check if you can copy off the data with it. If the program finds data to recover, you'll have to register the software.

is it like an undelete software ?
i have tried that
i just came here, cause maybe its a bug that windows wont recognize a folder as a folder instead it recognizes it as a file.

is there such a thing ?

also might as well try accessing the hdisk using another OS - like a bootable Live-CD of Knoppix available from http://www.knoppix.org/

in some cases, knoppix manages to access data not accessible via windows - its worth a shot if u run out of ideas!

No, it isn't an undelete software. This software scans the bad disk but doesn't change anything on it. It looks for files that are recoverable, and lists them. If you have the registered version of the software, it will then allow you to copy the files to some other HD or network drive. The good thing about that is that it doesn't change anything on the drive, so you could still send it to a recovery agency if the program can't recover the data.
