Restart server service

What's the best way to restart server service without restarting the computer.

For example: I'm stopping an shared item on server. Like an external hard drive. Would this do any harm? Would the users need to be disconnected for me to take this shared network hard drive out?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you stop the server service, ALL connected users to shares and printers WILL be disconnected.  Better to just use Computer Management and review the connected users and disconnect them as needed.

Log off and on again.  Double click the resource.  Run a Net Use command.  Go to the Tools Menu and select Map Network Drive.  Enter \\servername\sharename in the Run box.  A variety of ways.

Perhaps you could give some information on WHY you want to do this?

I'm in the process of installing a 2nd Easy Swap Hard Drive. I can't get it to work with the one exist in the system so I thought maybe I can get ride of it from the system and start from square one with it. Setup first as Basic and convert later to Dynamic?

If you look here

I started another question about it. I'm having issue adding the 2nd Easy Swap.
