We have a poweredge 2800 with a Raid 5 array for our data.  Currently it contains 4 x 146GB discs.  We want to add a fifth drive as a sort "hot spare" so it will take over immediately for any disk that fails.

I assume we just shutdown the server, put in the drive, and go into the array manager in the bios, and designate the drive as a global hot spare.  Does that sound about right?  Is there any danger to doing this procedure?
