How do I switch Symantec AV client from un-manage to manage ver 10.x

I had to build an AV server. I have 20 clients to have Symantec AV ver 10.x. that I want to bpoint to it. Is there a way to point them to the new server without reinstalling AV on ech client? Maybe thru the reg. ?

As I understand it, you have 20 unmanaged clients that you want to become managed by a SAV 10 server.

To do this take the grc.dat file from \\servername\vphome and  copy it to c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5 on each client.
Restart the symantec antivirus service or wait a while (could be up to an hour).  The grc.dat will delete itself once it has been processed.

There is a way  to do  this through the registry.  Its the way I used to always do it.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\Parent=parentservername.  I'm not sure its exactly supported, but it still works.

If your clients are running versions earlier than 10, you will first need to go into the Symantec System Center (SSC) Go into the Server Tuning Options and check "allow this server to manage 9.x and earlier clients" and then reboot the server.
