I finally bought xp pro SP2 manual from Amazon.com. It was less than half the price of Barns and Noble at 59 dollars plus tax. It came in two days.

The question is what does this phrase mean : Mark disk as active

winn32.exe with the following switch /syspart:c

Allows you to copy Setup files to a hard disk, mark the disk as
active, move it to another machine, and restart to continue
Setup on the new computer; must be used with /tempdrive and
can be run only on Windows NT/2000/XP machines.

I am reading the Microsoft's book on XP Pro. I guess it is about time.

Now why and when does one mark a partition as active. Is this similar to fdisk?

Gracias por su ayuda

lol questions questions Have you formatted this disc also you need xpsp1 installed first before xpsp2. Unless it is a slipstreamed xpsp1.sp2 which you can buy like that and clean install?
I know if I have a new hdd  set as slave sitting in my computer next to C drive unformatted and no partition, then going in to control panel administrative tools computer management disc management it will show this new hdd as " not active "as it has to be formatted so that it has a partition.
Please confirm is this kinda where you are?

I wanted a book on xp pro sp2. At Barns and Noble it was 60 dollars. I then went to Amazon.com and it turned out to be 27 dollars. It also included the book on cd rom! This is wonderful, I have two monitors and Adobe Acrobat professional. Now I also have two pairs of HDs. One has xp pro sp2. Thus I can load the ebook text on one monitor and then look at all the options mentioned in the ebook without worry that I will corrupt the xp pro sp2 program.
With a 21 inch monitor as my main monitor and a 17 in monitor as the second I am able to easly see the text.

I was also a beta tester for Acronis True Image, server addition. As a result they are sending me the latest release of Acronis True image Version 6.1 I was able to be accepted as a beta testor when I sent to the CEO a note how well their program worked. I had downloaded the 15 day trial.

I have 4 drives of which two are slave drives. I found out recently that I can access the slave drive and it boots as if it were a master drive. Norton says one must first change the jumpers of the slave drive to master and remove the old D.

If you have multiple hard drives, here is a free program:
http://www.osloader.com/download.htm

Here is the site for the 15 day trial of Acronis True Immage www.acronis.com

Miguel where are you from? Also why not put your e-mail address on your bio. We just may have things in common.

Take a look at my profile.
