Help with mod_rewrite ****500 POINTS URGENT****

in the apache configuration file for 2.0 what can I put using mod_rewrite to just add a www. when there is no subdomain because I want other sub domains like to work without redirection but if it is just I want it to change the url to but keep anything after the domain name for example if someone goes to I want it to redirect to also I want it to just basically change the url so in the browser history they don't see then only the one with www.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

to force an external redirection, you can use

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mydomain\.com
RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.mydomain,.com/$1 [R=301,L]

inside your <virtualhost *>-container for your domain.
