Windows xp Apache 2.0.55 SmartFTP

Operating System: Windows xp pro
Web Server: Apache 2.0.55
ftp server: SmartFTP
dev lang: php 5
New to all above

Problem: When I try to connect to my apache web server using SmartFTP, I get the following message
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

I'm not sure what values I should use for address, login, and password when using SmartFTP
When I want to test php files, I use the web browser in type in localhost/what ever the file name is

In my Apache httpd config folder, I set the following directives
SeverAdmin  my email address
DocumentRoot  The path that I'm using to run my php files
ServerName localhost:80

can anyone help?

thanks

Are you trying to use the FTP protocol to connect to an Apache Web Server?  As far as I know, the standard Apache Server doesn't support the FTP protocol, although there is an Apache FTP Server.  Port 80 is for http connections.  Normally, the FTP connections are made over port 21.  There is some information about the FTP server at:

http://incubator.apache.org/ftpserver/rfc2389.html

There are also several other open source FTP servers around.  FileZilla comes to mind.

Try connectiing to a known FTP server using SmartFTP.  I suspect that that will work fine.

You should be able to connect anonymously to their server at:

ftp.smartftp.com
