Share Internet Connection / Active Directory

Experts,

How can I share my dial-up internet connection sharing when Active Directory is installed? I've encountered that when Active Directory is not installed Internet Connection Sharing can be enabled. Is there any configuration to do?

Sorry, you can't do that with ICS on a DC:

Do not use ICS on a network that:
* Has a Windows Server 2003 domain controller"

You might be able to do that with NAT, but it's quite a risk to expose your domain controller directly to the internet. You'd be a lot better off (with far less trouble implementing it) if you invest into a small router/firewall combination.

As long as you are not running Active Directory, Static Addressing inside your LAN, or have services like DHCP, DNS, etc. on another server, you can enable ICS on a 2003 system...  Follow the directions in this MS article:
