Export domain users

Hi,

I need to export some users from an existing win2000 domain and then import them into a new (not connected) windows 2003 domain to save having to recreate the users and set up permissions on folders etc.

Can some one please tell me the best way to do this?

Also.  can I demote a win2000 DC from the existing domain and promote it as a DC in the new windows 2003 domain?

Many thanks

question 1) not sure if this is possible without using a system state back up and then an authorative restore on certain objects, not my kettle of fish

question 2) yes. When you demote the DC make sure you either format the box, or use ntdsutil to clean the metadata off the system before repromoting into a new domain. after that you will be fine

You might want to look into using the active directory migration tool to move your user accounts, download here : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6F86937B-533A-466D-A8E8-AFF85AD3D212&displaylang=en

If the two domains are not connected, I don't think you can retain permissions on folders.
If they are connected, Bwalker1 provides a good solution and you can retain permissions on folders.
By the way, what is you planning in folder migration?
