SEO and Flash

I have seen many tops sites that have flash on it. There is a misconception that if you have flash you cant get a good ranking. Although it is tough it is possible.

Answer lies in your question itself : "CONTENT"

Develop a lot of fresh content and add valut to your site.

Also make sure the flash on all the pages is not very heavy.

With this the most important thing you have to do is get lots of link back to your site.

This will do the trick.

I have heard whispered around work something of a "no embed" tag. Cant find anything of it though.

So in a Flash only site can the search spiders get into the Flash files?, would i have t ohide a link to a page with information pages etc.

The spiders will try, successfully or unsuccessfully to parse the file, and they will try to retrieve links from them.

Thanks for the ifor guys i have some really useful information there to help me go off.

The idea with a different flash file on different pages sounds good, and was one i mulled over, but though against it because with flash i was trying to do away with multiple pages...

With the cloaking method, i know it works because it is one of the practises we do at the company i work for. It has worked for them for the past 5 years so cant be a bad idea.

As one additional note, I'm wondering if when you use this cloaking method if people could report you to Google. What are your thoughts on this?
