Application crashes after trying to connect to vault (server).

Hello everybody.  We have been dealing with the following issue for a couple of weeks now.  Here is the problem.  We are using the application Solidworks to design plastic devices.  This app can have a couple of add-ins to it.  Oneof them is called PDMworks.  however, after we add this add-in and run it, the whole app crashes and closes out.  The good thing is that this add-in can be run by itself.  What this add in does is that it conects to a vault server and allows the user to check some file and document info.  Well anyhow, the vault server is in Texas.  i have installed the add-in on two different locations in the westo coast.  SA and SD.  I have no problem at all to connect from the SD location.  But I cannot get the machines in Santa Ana to connect.  Same issue, the app crashes and closes.  have tried it on several machines, have asked for one of those machines to be sent here where the vault is and everything works fine, so it's not the machine.  We have verified that the ports used are not being blocked and same issue.  Note: to connect we get a pop up with three fields:

login:
pswd:
vault (server):

we know that there is communication because if we use a different name for the server, we get a legitamete error that the server is not found. So my question is the following: why is the app crashing when it tries to connect? log files point to some issue with memory, but i 've tried it on diff machines.  It's like something about the location.  By the way there was a  subnet change arount the time that this happened but i don't know how this could affect it.

i hope i explained the issue.  if anybody has any questions please let me know. thank you.

what kind of connection do you have between the sites? have you ever had connection issues before?

Is there any errors in your event logs?   Have you looked to see if a Dr. Watson log was created for the faulting app?  If a log was created that would certianly shed some light on the issue. Dr. Watson is a program error debugger that detects and diagnoses program errors and creates User.dmp and DrWtsn32.log files to contain the diagnostic data. I think that the log files would be stored in the %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson folder. I am not at a server right now so I am not sure. The DrWtsn32.log file is appended each time a program error occurs; the User.dmp file is overwritten each time. Where was the subnet change?

Well, before I knew what Dr Watson was I disabled it, then I tried to re-anable it but that didn't work fine.  Now when I run the app I get the error:

Application error

The instruction at “0x005a554c” referenced memory at “0x00000000”.  The memory could not be “read”.  Click on Ok to terminate the program.

the subnet was changed on the location from where we are trying to run the app and connect to the vault server. let me try it on another machine to get dr watson's log info.  Thank you for responding.
Ok Valicon, I launched the app twice, and here are the logs.............hope this helps you help me. thanks

The logs do not tell us much. Do you know if this application will generate error logs? Most do. Do a search on your drive for *.log and lets see what we come up with.
There is a log file for the main application, and the log shows pretty much the same info as the windows logs..however the add-in is the one having the issue and can be run alone...and still crashes......no logs for it.....however every time a windows generated report is created....below are some of the stuff in it....it is the same all the time.....something about how the subnet is setup or how the machines try to connect.......but i'm just guessing here....i can if needed write down the whole log........if someone knows how to save this report to a file that would be great.....also looking into that. thanks...

this also shows up:

you must make sure your license file does only node-locking...or you musht have a winsock.dll in order to communicate with FLEX net license server......

----------
have no idea where this FLEX server stuff comes from.....
From what you posted above it seems that the configuration is not correct and there is a possible problem with winsock.dll. Not knowing very much about this application it is very hard for me to troubleshoot. Have you checked the configuration of the machine and the application against another working machine?
I understand but the thing is that i have the same issue on two other machines........but will look into this. thanks.
The issue is the same on two other machines from the same location......

there are practically no differnces in the machines. i have re-registered winsock in the affected machine and same issue. i do believe as you mentioned that this is a network issue.  there are no special settings on the vault to filter any kind of address. thanks.
please close.  Had to do with the way data was being routed.  Something on the router settings, though we were never given a clear response to what solved this. thank you again for your help.
Valicon takes the points for the support provided. thanks a bunch.
