Ok, i've been working on this for a while and so now i'm throwing this question out to the experts. Here is the scenario:
I wanted to share a printer that is located in our finance office with everyone within the office. The printer is connected locally via USB to one machine. I set the printer as a share and checked the box that asked if i wanted it listed in the directory. (I said yes) I then created a user group in Active directory on our Windows 2003 server and added the users from the finance department. Lastly i added the new group to the security permissions on the printer so that they would all have access to it.
Here is my problem: Sometimes the users can access the printer and at other times they cannot. The times seem to be random. The user that has the printer connected to her machine leaves her machine on all day/night so it's not because the machine is offline. I also checked to make sure that files/printer sharing was enabled on her machine in the Windows Firewall. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly apprciated. It has been a source of great frustration to those in the finance office.
