What's wrong with 2000?

Windows Operating Systems don't downgrade well.  And upgrades from 95/98/Me to 2000/XP are often problematic.  Reinstall fresh and you should run better, whichever OS you choose (though 2000 is INFINITELY better than 98).

I do agree with the comments above.

Going BACK to Win98 is a downgrade.

You can only do it after FDISK and delete the non-DOS partition.

FDISK again to partiton the HDD, format the HDD and run SETUP from the Windows 98 CD.

To FDISK and FORMAT download and create a Win98 boot disk from:

www.bootdisk.com

But, again, I wouldn't go back. The final decision is yours, of course.

Post back if you need further details.

so you have both on the same system, did you use fat32 or ntfs for the win 2000 partition, or did you do an upgrade ?
probably the best sollution is to reformat your HD after saving any data and re-install win 98, unfortunately win 98 install has no way to reformat your HD like the other MS OSs. try this reformat tool
