Dear bearpaws,

You need to use Process class of .NET, once you got object of process class its quite easy to get memory information.

Simply copy this code in any of your application event. Like button click, or form load. It will give you number of processes available in memory for internet explorer.

Dim i As Integer
Dim p2 As System.Diagnostics.Process() = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessesByName("IEXPLORE")
If p2.Length > 0 Then
     MsgBox("Total Internet explorer instances are " + p2.Length.ToString())
Else
     MsgBox("No Internet Explorer Process Running")
End If

Let me know if there is any confusion.

Also you can play with memory processes in any way by using Process class. For more information see following link(if needed).

I am assuming the client will need to have .net framework loaded
true?
Basically what I want to do is confirm they hav a certain page open and if so,
(it is an xml document) save it to file

Ya .NET framework is needed to run any executable or VB.NET. Once you get the control of the process you can do many tricks with contents too. Explore PROCESS class of .NET framework.
