Antivirus and SBS upgrade

I am in the process of upgrading a client's site from a mixture of XP and 98 machines to SBS Premium 2003 with a new server. Currently each of the PC's has Norton Antivirus installed.

The new server (HP) came bundled with Trend AV. I think I want to migrate them all to Trend SMB eventually but can I wait until each of the individual copies of NAV expire or should I ignore the fact that the client has paid quite a bit for Norton's over the past 6 months and just upgrade to Trend on all of them?

Can you guide me please.

I haven't used trend, so I can't comment on it vs norton.

However, I do feel that anyone with a number of pcs can benefit from a 'managed installation' Symantec offers this for the corporate edition of NAV - however it sounds like your client just bought individual copies at retail.

If the trend product is centrally managed (ie you can push updates from the server, initiate a site wide scan, etc...) then I would switch over all at once. Plus I'm sure it's cheaper for you to spend a half a day there and get them all switched over at once, vs making 10 separate trips
