Changing color in photoshop

Hello:

I am trying to change the background color which is not white. If you see the following image you will notice the background contains various color in different places.

I tried to change it by magic tool but it is time consuming and not accurate.

Please give me step by step instruction. Thanks in advance.

Hi, rsdn,

I'm not sure I understand your request. Are you trying to keep only the deserts/cake and get rid of everything else? Or are you trying to keep the image as is and remove the color cast from the light area so that it's white and not that pinkish color?

Greetings! I figured they were, at the least, desserts. As to "birthday", I'll bet the one on the left that the one on the right is a "Happy New Year" cake, not a b'day cake *wink*.
