Using AnsiIndexText to find index value in array of Record

I am using Records  such as

    TTeacherRec  = record
      FamilyName: string;

and I refer to the Record as an array of record

      fTeacherRec: array of TTeacherRec;

Presently, if I want to determine if a particular family name exists in the record, I use a repeat ... until loop to determine the index number in the array.

Can I use  AnsiIndexText to do the same job, and what exactly is the code

eg I presume it would be a modification to something like

 index := AnsiIndexText(stringvalue, fTeacherRec.FullName)

which does not compile
