Find me some books (or links) on graphic web design
Hi,
I need some people who know what they are talking about to recommend some material for me. I don't mind if it is an online course, or a book or a membership to a website or even someone who wants to teach me for a fee...
I really want to learn how to create professional looking web sites.
If you want I can give you a list of web sites I have done, so you can see where I'm at and what areas need work.
I like the idea of hiring a mentor, but I think there are some more basic skills I am lacking before I do that.
I seem to get stuck working out a colour scheme (I don't even know how to pick a colour scheme), and also drawing up a general layout for the site...
I mean if someone provides me with colors and layout then I can easily whip it up using CSS, HTML and PHP... thats no problem for me, but I want to start designing my own sites... I get heaps of ideas but I can't turn them into reality.

Otherwise your answer is great... do you have any links to layout of websites? I'm not sure if I'm looking at the hueristics of a website or if I need ideas or theory behind actual layouts of sites...
