I had this thought come across when i was trying to configure vnc port on my router..

How can i ever get attacked if I am behind a router???
When someone probes me, he can only get to the router right?

If I run subseven just for testing purposes within my network, then is there a chance, someone can get to my subseven server from outside? My thoughts were that i have to open a port on the router if i want to get to my subseven server from outside.. is that true?

Please explain how computers behind routers can get attacked?
