Are you sure the DLT drive is OK and you are using the correct media for that drive type? Did you make the backup using the same drive or was it another on another system?

The backups were done using a different device &nbsp; HP DLT 40/80 internal drive. &nbsp;The idea is to test the restore function so I am using that backup. &nbsp;

Here is the problem: &nbsp;When I insert the tape into the DLT VS80 it automatically ejects after a minute and the inventory in backup exec shows bad media. &nbsp;Also the media types in the properties of the tape drives does not show any media. &nbsp;I might have missed something. &nbsp;Any ideas?<br />

I am trying out our DR by restoring a back up tape to a fresh install Windows 2003.  I am using an old HP Netserver LH3 (PIII 500) and an external HP DLT VS80 Tape drive.  

Here is the problem:  When I insert the tape into the DLT VS80 it automatically ejects after a minute and the inventory in backup exec shows bad media.  Also the media types in the properties of the tape drives does not show any media.  I might have missed something.  Any ideas?

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud).
