How to slow down a B57.
All,
We have a system that includes a DOS based server using a 3-Com network card. These units are no longer available and we need to use a DELL GX280 which has a B57 network card on the motherboard. Installation and setup works fine and all works fine until we hit about 4 attached units. At this point the server goes tilt, usually with a stack fault or complete crash.
Putting a 3-Com card in and using that fixes the problem but it doesnt seat correctly so we cant ship it to customer.
Investigation suggests that its the NETBIOS driver that cant handle the speed of the B57. Is there anything we can do to slow down the B57? Replacing other components/drivers is not an option. We can change PROTOCOL.INI but not a lot else.
Any help would be appreciated.

We think the fault is in the Netbios driver that sits on top of the B57 driver. Its probably flaky when stressed. We jut want things to slow down a bit. Forcing the speed down to 10 might work but we dont want to do that if there's a way of making the board a bit less demanding in some other way. Any further thoughts?

Fraid so. This system is ANCIENT! Its an all-DOS network.

We have a ton of GX280s in our environment and have never seen this type of behavior. Maybe have Dell send out a new motherboard?
