Reused code that works elsewhere fine...can't seem to get the semicolon out of the picture...

I have a form that concatenates two fields:
CAR_Number  (Drop Down)
CAR_Number1 (Editable Field)
into CARNumberComputed .

I created CarNumberComputed so that the one form number will be shown when data is entered.

The following code is in value for CarNumberComputed:
myList := CAR_Number: CAR_Number_1; myList

For some reason, I get a semicolon in between the fields  e.g. CAR_Number;CAR_Number1  or just   ;   if nothing has been typed yet.

This is odd because I have used this line of code elsewhere and it does not show the  ;    and I cant seem to get rid of it.

The second part of this concerns the same fields. I need for CARNumberComputed to only show the first digit of the CAR_Number field.  For instance, the drop down allows the user to choose A - Audit  then type in their digits 3455 for the CAR_Number1 field.  I want CARNumberComputed to show only A3455 or A-3455.

Please help.

Hi cedent,
Try: @Trim(CAR_Number:CAR_Number_1), and set the computed field's  (CarNumberComputed) properties to multivalue, in the HAT tab, both multivalue options should be set to NEWLINE

Regards!

marilyng is correct.

The problem is not the code, but how the field delimiters are set.

I'm on the west coast - so I was just responding to this.  The first part worked like a charm, there was a second part, can you help with that part?  I plan on increasing the points.  Thanks for your speedy response.

You can use script to pull just the first letter and then the rest of the number
Use the Right() function to get just the first letter.
then concatenate the number.

I hope this helps !

in script use

Right(doc.CAR_Numbe(0),1)

There should be a function that does the same
