Convert Windows 2000 Server from Physical to Virtual with VMWARE : Hardrive problem

Hi,

I would like to convert a physical server to a virtual one with VMWARE. (ESX)

I have try different transfert methode (p2v assistant, ghost) but each time when i start the virtual machine I got an

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from selected bootdisk. Check boot path and disk hardware."

Did I have to inject somedriver, modif  registry into the images before start ?

Thank you

Have you tried starting the VM in safe mode? If you can boot into safe mode, open the device manager and remove all drivers from there and then try a normal reboot.

I found it, the problem is in the boot.ini

I have to replace:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000Server" /fastdetect

by

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000Server" /fastdetect
