Adding a Secondary Domain Server for backing up Primary Server
I have a basic Server (MS SBS 2003 w/MS Exchange and B/Up Exec) and other applications. I would like to buy a new server, increase the spec on this new one, move everything from the old server and then use the old one as a secondary Domain controller to backup the new one.
Any pointers for advice would be gr8.
Many thanks.

I would first setup the second computer with DNS first then get the replication going between both computers. Then after a few days later I would setup AD and make sure everything is works and replicating between both AD. Then move the FSMO roles over to the new DC. Afterward setup Exchange and move the mailboxes over. The process is a lot longer but that is the overall project plan. Good Luck
What are you planning on running on the new server - SBS or 2003?
If SBS you need to migrate the whole thing to a new domain which is a major PITA. (or my last one was anyway - with 30 windows 98 clients, but I digress..)
If 2003 you can put it in as a DC - but you'll need to but a new license for exchange as you cant split SBS components over multiple servers (legally at least).

Heatcote123,
it is MS Server 2003 for Small Businesses, does that changes things?
Many thanks
