How to change a root bridge
I have 2 stacked 3750s as the core and downstream I have 6 2950. I have noticed one of the 2950s is the root. My question is if making the 3750 stack the root will make the network performace better? and how could i change the 3750 to be the root?

Best practice is to make your "best" switch the root. By best switch - this would be the one with the redundant power, cooling, fail over, secure, new, latest code, etc.
If they're all about the same - as far as one power, same location, etc. then I would go with the lowest MAC address of the class of more powerful switches.

Hi,
I would have thought the best switch to be the root bridge would be the one most central to the network. If you "best" switch was placed on the edge of your LAN it would prove inefficient.
