Windows XP - Unable to install SCSI Controller Driver - conflict

SCSI controller card:
SIIG Model SC2454 SCSI Pro PCI internal/external (discontinued)

Shows as a conflict under SCSI/Raid controllers in device manager.
Any attempt to install a driver results in the following message:

"There was a problem installing this hardware: SCSI Controller
An error occurred during the installation of the device:
The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windwos 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor."

I would like to have access to my SCSI HD, which worked in a previous life prior to updating from Win2k to WinXP. It's been a long time since the update, and the conflict existed immediately after the update.

So, can I resolve this, and how?
