VMware 5.5 restarts during installation!!!

Ok so I have done my research on this but just wanted to make sure that there isnt any other problems out there....

I have a win xp (32bit) machinewith AMD 64x2 3800+, Asus A8N-SLI PremiumMotherboard, Linksys Nic, XFX 7800 GT video and I installed Vmware 5.5 and the computer rebooted without the installation finishing.  Then it went into an infinite loop of restarting....

I turned off the automatic restart and it happened again with NO BLUE SCREEN...

some other software that I have installed is
AIM triton (which is wat to slow)
Daemon Tools 4.03 ( had 4.0 when the problem occurred, recently upgraded, havent tried installing since VMWare yet)  u'll see why in one of the threads..
Serv U FTP server

I found the following threads

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/archive/index.php/t-7674.html
https://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?messageID=323425
http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?threadID=26845&start=0&tstart=0

I just want to make sure that before I attempt the installation again. That it was indeed daemon tools 4.00 that caused the problem.  I really dont feel like wiping out my system and reinstalling the OS.

Thank!

Hi Aschneider00
this may help, sorry more forums on the same subject.. But it seems to work fine for some and not for others.

I can however not confirm this, therefore this can only be considered as "gossip".
After having installed Daemon Tools v4.03 yesterday evening, I can no longer reproduce this issue!

Vmware Workstation 5.5.0 and Vmware Player 1.0 installed without problems, while SPTD was enabled. Furthermore, I have done some "stress-testing", copying large amounts of data from the virtual drive, watching a DVD movie from a mounted image and more. I couldn't get the computer to crash (which is good, of course  ).

Thank you, DT Soft, for making a fix that quickly!

It's probably just a matter of days before v4.03 will be publicy available to all (non-paying) users. You have something to look forward to  Among other things, DT v4.03 includes a new version of SPTD (v1.24) with several bugfixes.

Still no luck???
If you would like to find what is installed try this:
The Belarc Advisor is a freeware utility that builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware and then displays the results in your Web browser. None of this information is sent to the internet. It is all stored privately on your computer.
The information displayed includes, but is not limited to:

Operating System type and build
Motherboard brand and serial number
Installed drives, CD and fixed, including brand and capacity
Installed Microsoft hotfixes
Installed Microsoft software licenses and some keys
List of all installed software

Well no, I havent tried it again since the first time.... so I am not sure if it was daemon tools or not.

I am just trying to figure out all the possibilities to minimize the risk of it happening.

I cant seem to find any documentation on what to do with the processors within the guest OS.
do you tell vmware to use 1?  or both cores?
