can any one help me with this:
we know J2ee App is a platform, when we create a application
it is running on top of the platform.

but in the mean time, we have a bunches of framework, like struts, spring and so on.
can you tell me What is the difference between Platform and Framework?

thanks in advance.

btw i have following discuss about this:
A platform is complete in itself it doesn't require anything else to execute. It usually supports other applications when they execute by supplying them resources like j2ee application server does e.g. connection pools, containers, messaging queues.
A framework is incomplete it requires filling up of the empty spaces so as to call to complete it and make it executable as per the specific needs of an application. It usually comes in handy when dealing with an application family. I bet microsoft has a common framework for editing options and the MS Office family of products, word, excel, powerpoint etc. And when they implement only some of the parts of these application differs based upon the need
