I am new to the Java world.  I am trying to learn writing web applications using Spring.

Say i want to create a web page with a select list on the left and a grid on the right within that page.  If i change the selection on the list, the page will postback and populate the grid based on my selection.  I know in ASP.NET i can set a datasource for the select list, set the EnableViewState to true, and ASP.NET will keep the data/selected value for me.  What's the JSP/Spring equalvalent of the Onclick event, EnableViewState, etc?

Thank you for your help!
