I purchased a dell 9100 with a intel dual core proc and 2 gigs of ram and a raid 0 hd setup.  The problem is whenever i try to do anything that accesses the dvd drive, the sound starts to crackle and the cpu usage spikes like crazy.  For example, if i'm listening to itunes or winmedia player, and then pop in a dvd to transfer some files onto my hd or do most anything that involves the dvd player, the sound will get messed up and i'll have to close down itunes, winmedia or whatever.  I've never had this problem with any other computer that i've owned.  I can't even pop in a dvd or divx cd to watch a movie using the dvd player and get clear sound.  A buddy of mine purchased this exact same computer and his having the same sort of problems.

ive done the following but have had no luck resolving the issue:
-tried using a different dvd drive
-tried adjusting the jumper setting on the dvd drive from master to slave to cable select
-adjusted hardware acceleration max, min and everywhere in between
-ended task on all progs when trying to watch a dvd.. tried vlc media player, winmedia and a few others.. still sound issues when watching dvd
-windows update, driver updates etc.
