Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2003 rehoming replication status local modified

I have two exchange 2003 servers.

I am removing the first exchange server.

I am using KB article 822931 Titled: How to remove the first exchange server 2003 computer from the administrative group.

I am stuck on number 10 of section "Rehome the offline address book folder"

Replication is not showing In Sync for both servers, if I am on source server I get that destination server is local modified, if I am on destination server I get that source server is local modified?

The item count on source server for offline address book is 543 and the item count on destination server fro offline address book is 0. I have let this set for about 2 hours now and the item count has remained the same.

I have right clicked on the source server in the right pane under the status tab and selected synchronize content but still item count remains the same as well as status.

Please help.

Wht service packs do you have on the servers?
has the public folder replication completed?
Is the mail flow working fine between the servers?
Have you checked the permissions on the OAB folder?
Is the PF replication working fine both ways? What happens if you create a test folder on first exchange server. does the test PF replicate to the second server. If you post content in the test PF, does that replicate.
Do you see any errors in the application logs

Windows Server 2003 SP1, Exchange 2003 no SP on both servers
Replication for system folders of public folders i.e. offline address book and schedule free+busy data have not replicated item count
Mail is working fine
Permission are set to the best of my knowledge, What should they be?
All other public folders have replicated just fine including a contacts database that holds 2500+ contacts
No errors in replication log on either server, however we are recieving sync logs on outlook clients for offline address book is this due to replication issue?
have you Changed the server that is responsible for generating the Offline Address List?

if you connect to the second server's public folder tree in the esm and then view the system folders, are you able to see the free/busy folder and the oab folder?
Yes the new server is the responsible server, I am still recieve errors 0x8004010F on clients, so I switched the original exchange server back to the responsible server, any ideas?

Yes I am able to see all system folders under public folders on both servers.
change the server back to the new server for OAB and RUS.. also do the same for routing master..
Stop all the exchange services on the old server
make the changes in the mailbox store properties.. let the online maintenance run..
do a rebuild of OAB
check the application log for any errors
after that check with outlook whether users are able to download OAB
I changed the new server back as responsible for offline address list
What do you mean 'make the changes in the mailbox store properties.. let the online maintenance run..'
if u make a new OAB then u have to make the same changes in the properties of the mailbox store as well.. but i guess in your case we have not made a new oab.. just changed the oab server.. now do a rebuild of oab.. then wait for few minutes and then check with the outlook client by downloading the oab.

have to made changes to the sitefolderserver as well to reflect the new server.. if not then make that change first and then force AD replication and then do a rebuild of OAB

u can check the steps in the following kb article for the sitefolderserver attribute

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/284200/en-us
I am not having an update issue, I am having a replication issue.

Destination server is showing both servers In Sync however item count does not match, source server is showing source In Sync and destination Local Modified item count does not match for both schedule+ free busy and offline address list folders.

The item count on source server for offline address book is 202 and the item count on destination server for offline address list is 0. I have let this set overnight and the item count has remained the same.
all of ur mailboxes are on the new server. the oab is on the old server. clients are getting an error when they download the oab because the replication has not completed of the oab folder from the old to the new server.

because of this i asked u the check the sitefolderserver of the administrative group. is it pointing to the old server or the new one.

if the oab and free/busy is not replicating u can always republish it.. when u rebuild the oab the the oab is re-generated and then the contents are posted in the oab folder.. same thing for free/busy.. u can send a test meeting request to all the user and ask them to accept it then the free/busy data is published in the free/busy folder. the free/busy can also be acomplished by using the updatefb.exe tool
Okay I understand what you are saying now.  Do you have a step by step procedure on how do exactly what you just described.  If you do I will reward points to you.
Thank you.
Below is the information you requested on sitefolderserver, the old server name is othellodc1 and the new server with all the mailboxs in othelloms1.

CN=Public Folder Store (OTHELLODC1),CN=First Storage Group,CN=InformationStore,CN=OTHELLODC1,CN=Servers,CN=First Administrative Group,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=evergreen-othello,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=evergreen,DC=local
I downloaded SP1 for Exchange 2003, if I install this SP on both servers would that help replication?
I have performed the steps on the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/284200/en-us
I am now going to send a test meeting to all users and have them accept it to republish the Schedule+ free/busy.

Can now help me with the OAB replication issue, I know I can rebuild it but how?
I am recieving the following 3 errors in application event log, I am unable to dig up any good infomration on how to troubleshoot these errors.  Any ideas?

Ok great thanks!

I am having one last issue and that is on a client running outlook 2003 I click:
Address book icon\and then view properties of all address lists and it shows that othellodc1 is the server providing information and it should be othelloms1.

Now with that said everything is pointing to othelloms1 within exchange system manager.  Is there a way to force update of oab to all outlook clients?
