troubleshooting Question

BNC (cheapnet) to UTP (ethernet). Will sniffer see data from a hub

I  need to connect my laptop to a device that has BNC connection. I am using a Xircom card with Sniffer and want to be able to capture data from the device which is on the Cheapnet (coax) network.

If I can Tee connect the Xircom card to the coax network I am hoping that I will be able to capture. I have tried to find a Media Converter but they are not readily available here so I here is the plan...

I have managed to locate a D-Net 10Base-T Ethernet Hub (de-816tp) with a BNC connector on the back. I am guessing that if I connect my Xircom card to the Hub (RJ45) and also connect the device I want to capture from to the BNC connector on the Hub then Sniffer will have a connection to capture from?

Does this sound feasible or am I not getting the big picture?
