Exchange not routing Yahoo, BT Email - all other email is being routed

All outbound email to all ISP's 3rd parties is being forwarded by our Exchange server, however we are unable to send email's to Yahoo/BT internet accounts

on the Windows 2000 exchange server queue it shows the Yahoo/BT Internet email "re-trying" all other email to gmail, hotmail works fine

yahoo/Bt accounts are able to email back to users on the exchange server

isn't all email forwarded via SMTP? are we able to use diagnostics tools to see why it's not being routed?

could it be a firewall issue?

in the Additional Queue information it says "an SMTP protocal error occurred"
Who is your ISP? Is it BT/Yahoo?

Anything between the server and the Internet?
SMTP Protocol Error is a big generic. Have any of the messages bounced with a NDR yet? that will show the full SMTP error code which is of use.

are we talking about reverse dns on the exchange server or on the domain name?
