your security settings do not allow web sites to use Activex controls installed on your computer. As a result, this page may not be displayed correctly.
Hi. I'm using IE 6 and trying to update a certain PC. I've done this same step to 15 PCs up until this one. I can't get around it. Everytime i go to the windows update site, I get the above said message. I've changed all types setting to work around this problem. I have followed solutions on this website that have worked for others...but to no avail. I keep getting that message when i go to the windows update website.
I don't know if it just that website or just one of many but i do know that it is annoying. I may have to reinstall IE...but surely not.
Please help me on this and i'll try to answer any subsequent question that you have.
Thanks so much!!!

Here is the info you need. (http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kb/en/document?dn=1090296&c=us&l=en&s=gen&cs)
Athought it says Dell, It applies to your case also because it is common for all Internet Explorer 6.x versions. This is usually used to stop popups and other unnecessary things that can harm your computer. I hope this answers your question. :)

Heya ive got round this before by adding the website to my Trusted sites.
Click Tools>internet options in IE then goto the Security page select trusted sites then click Sites button. Type in the root website and uncheck requires server verification click ok. See if that helps.

Everything but reinstalling internet explorer. I shouldn't have to do that. none of the other steps got me around the problem. can you disable the information bar all-together?
