PC Siren going off continuously

Hi There,

We have a PC which boots up fine then after half an hour a siren goes off and stays going! It simply sounds like a police siren.

I have changed all RAM modules but no joy, any ideas?

Hi ellisj2006,

Once this happened, after restarting, does this problem occur immediately ?

Did you try replacing your Video Card. Also cjeck whether your cooling fans are running in good conditions

Cheers!

No it happens 'after half an hour'.

I didnt want to be chasing it by replacing everything, just wondered if people knew what that siren recognises?
Usually this is ... Overheating - check your CPU fan and heatsink, or an incorrectly seated CPU. Pull it out, dust it off, reseat and apply a thin coating of quality thermal compound between it and the heatsink.

I reckon it could be a heat issue. As aneeshattingal suggested what sort of condition are your cooling fans, do they all seem to be turning OK? How clean is your system? If the heat sink above your processor looks clogged with dust then it won't be cooling your processor. Install Speedfan: http://www.almico.com it will tell you what sort of temperatures your CPU and system are running at, if the siren goes off when the CPU temperature hit's a certain point, then... you know what to do..
The system is filthy as it sits in an office which allows smoking.

Definitely sounds like a heat problem, will take a look at the temperature. What temp is normal?

Im not the smoker, its a remote site where old habits die hard
cpu fan not working

possibly causes  dust  cables touching it  heat issue

go into bios and set it as the defaults
save settings and exit
