PDF files display garbage in Reader 7.0.7
I have an employee that's having trouble displaying documents within Acrobat Reader 7.0.7. It doesn't happen with all PDF files, but the "corrupted" ones will display garbage characters instead of normal text. To further muddy the waters, the files can be printed or saved as a .txt file and come out looking like they should. We've installed all the updates, run Detect and Repair and tried a complete uninstall/reinstall. The "corrupted" files display and print normally on my machine. Any thoughts?

I'll give Foxit a try as a workaround, but I'd like to get Reader working if I could.
The problem seems to be with .pdf files formatted for Acrobat 5.x Newer files open correctly.
I'm thinking the problem is related to the fonts inatlled on the local computer. I installed some specific Frutiger fonts our company uses in collateral pieces, and now these files open incorrectly on my machine as well.

If you do not use Foxit reader as sof suggested above and want to continue using Adobe try installing any font updates (packages) if you have not already done so.

I've run all of the updates found through going to "Help - Check for updates now" in Reader, and it's still displaying garbage.
Foxit does work, so for now we'll use that. I'll talk to our IS team about getting compatible fonts on everyone's computer. Thanks!

I'm going to leave this open for now in case someone else can address the font incompatibility with Reader 7.0.7. If there are no responses, I'll give sof the answer.
Are these files downloaded from a URL?
If so you need to clear your browser cache.
I'm assuming that there is no error message when attempting to open these files.

Its standalone (doesnt need to be installed) and very lightweight , it doesnt hog any resources like adobe reader.
