When and where in CRXI do you get this message?  When you open the app?  When you open a report?  All reports or a specific report?  How are you opening the reports, through Enterprise folders?  Do you know if you're running Crystal Reports Server/BusinessObjects Enterprise?

This is for CR 10 but the Crystal suggestion is to ensure CMS is running

A different answer for CR XI

This is not related to infoview specifically. This is related to anything in CR 11 that I try to open. I have the Server version that limits how many users you can have. This comes with the Developer version. When I try to open any of the modules in CR Server such as the CMS or Infoview it propmts me with a username and password for the Enterprise authentication mode. I can't log in using Nt or anything else and have no idea what the username and password are.
The default user id for Crystal Reports Server is 'administrator' (not case-sensitive) with a blank password.  Until you actually login to to the CMC (Central Management Console) and set up users and/or security (Enterprise, LDAP, NT or AD) you won't be able to login with anything else.

1)  Is Crystal Reports Server installed on the same machine as Crystal Reports XI?  Did you install the Server application first (you have to)?

2)  Are you using the .NET or Java interfaces?

3)  In the CCM (Central Configuration Manager) are the services running?  If they're running, are they enabled (in the CCM, there is a 'Enable Servers' button that will prompt you for your login)?

I keep getting the CMS is not running. When I try to start it, it starts and then stops right away. It says it isn't running at port 6400. In the Default Web Site for IIS it is set to the default port 80. I'm not sure if at some point that was supposed to be changed to 6400 or what, but nothing in the setup requested that. We are running this in IIS with .net. I've tried the administrator and blank password many times and it just doesn't work. Thanks
You need to review your event log to find out why the CMS is stopping.  Perhaps there's a dependency that isn't being met.  Some dependencies for the CMS are:

Event Log
<database service> MSSQLSERVER is the default if MSDE was installed or if you use SQL Server
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

I tried to replicate your issue as follows:

1)  Stopped the MSSQLSERVER service on my laptop
2)  Attempted to login via Infoview
3)  Received the following error message (the same as yours):

The system <servername> can be contacted, but there is no Central Management Server running at port 6400.

My assumption at this point is that your database is either not running or can't be reached...

Also, you do not need to change the port for IIS.

The problem that you are facing might be due to your firewall setting.
The server on which you are running the CMC might have the 6400 port block.
Try disabling the firewall on the server and also the same on ur CR XI box.

Ofcourse that is if the server and the CR XI developer are on different boxes.
