I have 2 firewalls on the 1st firewall port 25 is forwarded to 2nd firewall and from the  2nd firewall port 25 has been forwarded to windows 2003 machine. This is a test setup.same has been done to port 80.when telneting to port 25  I don't get a reply but when telneting to port 80 I get a reply. On windows 2003 firwall too both the ports are open. When I am telneting internally I get a reply on port 25 but when trying from external network it fails. Any ideas why  I can't telnet port 25.
Watch Question

Did you perhaps accidentally only forward UDP from one of the routers instead of TCP?

Can you telnet to port 25 from a machine connected between the first and second router?

If these are cheaper SOHO routers you may have to powercycle, regardless of whether they're "supposed" to take effect immediately, I have found some that will not.

Why do you want it closed? Did my answer solve your problem?  Abs_jaipur's solution is good troubleshooting, except for the fact he can already locally telnet into the Exchange server.

Port 25 was not opened on firewall.
Thanks for the your time

Hmm, ok that's just plain weird.....

None of these were the answers for my question. As i said to you before that the port 25 was blocked on the 2nd firewall for some reason. SO I asked the moderator to close the question. But felt that the answers given had atleast gained me some knowledge so I gave them the marks.
