Remote users are unable to access OWA

Remote users are unable to access OWA. URL (mail.domain.com/exchange), or IP address will not open login banner. Users usually get connection failed, or a search page opens. The MX record is correct, email is functioning.
OWA is working when accessed inside the firewall.

Are you using http or https?
Is port 80 or 443 traffic allowed through your firewall to the OWA server?
What is the error number you are getting, a 4xx or 5xx error number?
