Embed Executable JAR (Java) in a VB.NET App

Can it be done?  Well, anything can be done.  So ... how do you do it?  Has anyone had any experience/success doing this?  Thanks!

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Hi, do you mean add a jar file to VB.NET assembly? If so, you can... Project --> Add Existing Item and then browse to add your jar file to the project, once added, in solution explorer, select the jar file and set its Build Action property to Embedded Resource.

You can then get a stream from the embedded jar file and write the file out at runtime... and even execute the jar file using the System.Diagnostics.Process class.

Let me know if thats what you want!

Very good info,  I was aware of such embedding ... I was referring more to the act of embedding the running jar app IN the window of the vb.net app, as if it were a form or some sort of object.  Better explained?

by form, i meant control

Hi, to run Java programs from .Net, you need the JNBridge component.
Here's the website:
www.jnbridge.com

Currently, we are running our business layer written in Java, from a .Net UI.

The Alternative free solution is to convert your java application to an xml web service, then consume it from .net.
