Bluetooth Support Service not in services.msc
I recently bought a USB adapter. When i plugged it in on my computer, it installed the driver fine and it shows up in the device manager as a bluetooth device. However, there is no Bluetooth icon in the control panel and when i look in the services.msc, the "bluetooth support service" is not present at all, like not even on the list.

Any ideas?

did you load the associated utilty for your device?

Yes.  you can download the updates individually from microsoft and store them on a USB.  to get the updates, you would visit microsoft.com and go to the download section.  look up each of the updates you need (usually they start with KB), and download the file.

another possibility would be for you to create a slipstream which includes the updates:

or, if you dont want to use magiciso : http://www.justinwojas.com/bootcd.htm

There is only a driver for it. There is a 3rd party program that is on the CD that i can use to pair devices and such, however... i really want to use the integrated windows bluetooth panel for that. When i take the device to another computer, it works fine. Its only this one that doesnt have the "Bluetooth support service"in the services console.

Yupp. Just installed SP2 and same thing. No Bluetooth support service in the services console.

boot into safe mode.. go to device MANAGER and then locate the instance of the bluetooth device REMOVE it and restart computer.

let it go till the desktop then insert bluetooth device and re-install the driver.  choose NOT to keep the existing driver.

irqinpks,

I did that, Except the bluetooth support is still not there. I am now able to get it working using the thrid party application, but i would rather use the windows built-in app from the control panel. Any ideas?

Microsoft Windows XP is the sixth release of the NT series of operating systems, and was the first to be marketed in a variety of editions: XP Home and XP Professional, designed for business and power users. The advanced features in XP Professional are generally disabled in Home Edition, but are there and can be activated. There were two 64-bit editions, an embedded edition and a tablet edition.
