How to set up disk to disk backup solution

We are looking to upgrade our current back up solution

We have 2 tasks that need to be accomplished

1:  one of our servers is running out of space
2:  we want a back up solution that will back up all our servers (4)

I was thinking of purchasing a NAS and tape autoloader.

I wanted to find out how this would be set up and if the NAS can be used as a type of server/storage to transfer files from our server that is slowly running out of space.

For example we have a file server.  Would I be able to attach the NAS and move all the shared files/drives to the NAS and share them out from there freeing up space on the server?

and then also be able to back that up and everything else?

Or how is the NAS used for disk to disk back up?  Is all info in the company pulled onto the NAS and then the NAS backuped up?

How does this solution work and what would be the best solutoiin to free up or add more storage to my 1 server and also be able to back up all the info on all of our servers.

I was looking into a Lacie Ethernet NAS 2 TB
Exabyte magnum 1.4 tb/2.8tb autoloader

Thanks for the help/suggestions
