SQL Server 2000 Transaction log failing, SQLMAINT.exe process exit code: 1 failed

I am using the DBMaintenance plan to backup the transaction log of two Databases. One database in the plan backs up the trans log just fine. But the other  Database trans log fails with the following error message:" SQLMAINT.exe process exit code: 1 failed"

When I try to backup the trans log of the failing Database manually and I notice in the wizard, my option for the Transaction log is greyed out. Not allowing me to select "Transaction log backup"??

Any words of wisdom??

Hi 5thcav,

can you check whether the recovery model of that perticular database is 'Simple'. You can't backup the log files of a 'Simple' database

Cheers!

That is because the Recovery model for that database is set at Simple not Full.   That is why you cannot backup the Transaction Log

If I can predict you next question:  Look up "Using Recovery Models" in Books Online :)
